Vic Zee, often recognised as a pioneering figure in Sydney’s techno-electronic music community, began his journey in the 1990s amidst the Sydney Rave Scene. Here, he honed his DJ skills, dedicating himself to perfecting his turntablist and mixing techniques.
Vic Zee’s lifelong passion for electronic music, particularly the kick-driven, percussion-heavy techno sound, traces back to his childhood fascination with early 8-bit computing and electronic gaming in the mid to late 1980s. This love for computer-generated sound and synthesis within gaming led him into the world of early electronic music.
Vic Zee also hosted Back 2 Earth during its test transmission stages on Radio DEX 96.9fm, receiving substantial listener support. Throughout his career spanning over three decades, Vic Zee’s mission has remained consistent: spreading the TECHNO SOUND with a tougher twist.
Alongside co-founder DJ Mookie, Vic has set trends rather than followed them, leading to the launch of SWARM, a techno vinyl and digital label, in 1999. SWARM events, among Sydney’s most successful and enduring, offer an uncompromisingly underground techno experience that still thrives today.

He has performed locally and internationally and has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Alex Bau, Speedy J, Chris Liberator, Sterling Moss, D.a.v.e the Drummer, Guy the Geezer, Space Djz, Pounding Grooves, Julian Liberator, Zebedee, Misjah, Ignition Technician, Mike Humphries, Chris Liebing, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin, Luke Slater, Green Velvet, Dave Clark, Umek, Valentino, Dj Pinch, Ben Simms and many others.
Over the past 30 years, Vic has garnered widespread acclaim for his intricate mixing techniques and commitment to a percussive, chunky/funky style of trance-induced techno. Using vinyl, CDJs or in a live set configuration, Vic Zee always maintains a dynamic interaction between the turntables and mixer, infusing live and experimental elements into his sets, all while drawing from his extensive 30-year vinyl collection.
